Rebeca Gonzalez MA, MS,RCSWI

Rebeca has dedicated her professional career to providing quality mental health services to children and families. Rebeca specializes in children and adolescents, employing a family-directed approach and using evidence-based methods, to empower the growth of healthy and productive children in our community so they can lead emotionally healthy lives. Rebeca’s specialties include the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and phobias, depression, adjustment, oppositional defiance, mood disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and trauma primarily related to sexual abuse. Rebeca also has extensive training and experience in Child-Parent Relational Therapy (CPRT), play therapy, behavior modification and parenting skills. Rebeca’s primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); however, she also incorporates Psychodynamic, Motivational Interviewing, and/or Client-Centered approaches to fit her client’s needs. Rebeca practices Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with children who have personally experienced or have been exposed to sexual abuse.

Rebeca also provides counseling services to adults using a client-centered, insight and goal oriented and supportive approach. She has broad experience and is equally adept at individual, family, couples and group therapy. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and she has extensive experience in multi-cultural counseling. Rebeca also worked for several years with elderly adults and their caregivers, helping them cope with end of life issues, grief, medical problems and disabilities.

Rebeca earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Puerto Rico and her Master’s degree in Psychology from Carlos Albizu University in Miami, Florida.

Rebeca’s empathy, compassion and understanding give way for a positive therapeutic relationship in which Rebeca helps her clients achieve their goals. Her focus is to empower clients and assist them in recognizing their inner strength no matter what the challenges may be.
