Elva Sanchez, M.S., LMFT, CPT
Elva Sanchez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist born in Peru. Elva moved to South Florida when she was 16 years old. Elva received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and then continued to pursue her Master’s Degree at Carlos Albizu University, graduating in 2017.
With clients, Elva uses different evidence-based approaches and likes to provide clients with a sense of empowerment while help them to be goal-oriented and gain power back to their own lives. She focuses in encourage clients to concentrate in self-growth while promoting autonomy, independence, and self-sufficiency.
While working in the process of change, Elva likes to challenge client to achieve self-awareness, insight and positive change. Elva is able to provide personalized and tailored sessions specific to the strengths and needs of her clients.
Elva has experience working with children and teenagers. She works with Autism, and various other childhood diagnosis. Elva has provided training and materials for parents on how to better handle children with behavioral issues.
Elva is also a Certified Trauma Professional and has a vast experience working with domestic abuse survivors, crisis intervention, and hate crime survivors.
Elva, as a marriage counselor, has a lot of experience working with couples and families from varying cultural backgrounds. She is comfortable conducting therapy in either English or Spanish.
