Nicole Pera, MS, LMHC
Nicole specializes in therapy relative to significant life transitions and understands how even natural life transitions can lead to personal and familial imbalance. Having over 15 years of clinical experience in her field, Nicole has extensive experience in many branches of Mental Health counseling. Nicole has earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from The University of the State of New York; at Buffalo State, along with an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Canisius College in the State of New York. Nicole also is a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor provisional certification from 2012-2020 in New York State. Nicole is Licensed in New York State, as well in the state of Florida. Nicole believes in utilizing a person-centered, trauma informed approach that integrates a wide array of therapeutic methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
Nicole has supervised one of the most successful community substance abuse and mental health transitional programs in Western New York. Her leadership and dedication to her clients and staff in her routine work and during the COVID-19 pandemic won her the 2020 New York State Justice Center Award for exceptional conduct and unwavering commitment in her field. She was one of five people selected by the New York State Justice Center Advisory Council for this award. Nicole also has experience working with families and individuals linked with the criminal justice system, previously working with Niagara County Courts and Probation to improve communication within families to divert family matters and juvenile delinquency issues from court intervention.
Nicole has extensive experience working with family conflict and was a certified mediator providing mediation services with families and obtaining over 800 successfully mediated cases resulting in formal custody orders.
Additionally, Nicole believes in exploring the practice of holistic healing methods to better serve clients that are more spiritually inclined. Nicole is certified as a first-degree level Reiki practitioner by the Usui System of Natural Healing. She is also a certified associate metaphysician. She believes each person is unique, and that we all heal and grow differently.
